From a personal point of view: When I look back over the past 15 years, I often notice how much we overlook or even forget how much the digital world has changed, especially in music production and sound design. The only social platform that existed was MySpace; YouTube only came a year later. The World Wide Web was still in its early years. Only a handful of really good VST synthesizers are available ala Lennar Digital Sylenth1, u-he ACE, and a little later Massive from Native Instruments. While there are now what feels like dozens of state-of-the-art synthesizer plugins. For every vintage classic, top emulations, super creative effect plugins and so much more. Not even mention how AI will probably change a lot of music & sound in the future.
Some great things have happened in these 15 years that you couldn’t even imagine at the beginning. A lot of sound design work for other companies, developing some VST plugins, and founding Resonance Sound shop/distributor together with SOR, with D16 PunchBox probably the most used plugin for kick drums.
It’s fascinating how much the digital music world has changed, especially how much more accessible it is to new young people, making it even easier for them to discover and realize their creativity.
I think the next 15 years will definitely be even more exciting…
